Georgia Landed The Best Quarterback In The 2026 Class On Saturday, And Kirby Smart Is Ready To Take The SEC With Nick Saban Gone
Joshua L. Jones / USA TODAY NETWORK

Georgia’s head coach, Kirby Smart, caught a huge break when Alabama’s head coach, Nick Saban, retired two months ago. This made Smart the best coach in college football and the Bulldogs the class of the sport and the SEC.

Georgia Lands Best Quarterback In 2026

You could argue Georgia was the main dog in college football, winning two titles in three years, but Alabama and Saban were always around. Now that Saban is out, it’s time for Smart to take over the South, and he did it again on Saturday.

According to Hayes Fawcett from On3, “2026, quarterback Jared Curtis had committed to Georgia.

Curtis is from Nashville, Tennessee, and chose the Bulldogs over Ohio State, Texas, Alabama, and Oklahoma.”

According to 247sports.com, Curtis is the ninth overall player and the number one quarterback in the 2026 class.

Kirby Smart Keeps Winning On And Off The Field

The Bulldogs keep winning on and off the field, and landing Curtis shows that you must go through Smart now that Saban is gone in the South.

Other coaches include Ole Miss’s Lane Kiffin, LSU’s Brain Kelly, Texa’s Steve Sarkisian, Tennessee’s Josh Heupel, and Alabama’s Kalen DeBeor. Still, they have yet to get results on the field like Smart, and until they do get those significant wins, including titles, Smart will dominate the SEC off the field.
